IRGC Launches Ballistic Missiles in Retaliation to Attacks in Syria and Iraq
The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has declared launching ballistic missiles against the bases of alleged “terrorists” in Syria and Israel’s Mossad in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region. The attacks carried out at midnight in response to recent “terrorist attacks” in Iranian provinces, targeted southeastern Kerman and Sistan and Baluchestan.
The IRGC attributes the strikes to Israel’s assassinations of Iranian and resistance commanders. Four casualties were reported in the missile strike on Erbil, Iraq. The Kurdistan Region Security Council condemned the attack, emphasizing Erbil’s historical stability and calling it a clear violation of regional and Iraqi sovereignty.
These events transpire following a suicide attack near the tomb of Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani in Kerman, claimed by the Islamic State, resulting in over 90 deaths and 280 injuries on January 3.
