India and Nepal Strengthen Ties with Agreements and Aid Announcements

During the seventh meeting of the India-Nepal Joint Commission in Kathmandu, the Foreign Ministers of both countries, S. Jaishankar and N.P. Saud, conducted comprehensive talks to review bilateral relations. Several agreements and memorandums of understanding were signed, highlighting India’s grant of NPR 1,000 crore for Nepal’s earthquake reconstruction efforts.

The nations also signed agreements related to long-term power trade, increased Indian aid for small development projects, and financial assistance for the reconstruction of earthquake-affected regions in Nepal.

Furthermore, an agreement was reached for the launch of Nepali satellites with the Indian Space Research Organisation, and an MoU was signed for cooperation in the renewable energy sector. The ministers also jointly inaugurated three cross-border transmission lines, solidifying their commitment to strengthen ties in various sectors.
