Heavy Snow Blankets Beijing, Affecting Train Operations and Schools

Beijing is experiencing continued heavy snowfall, leading to the cancellation of at least 153 trains and the suspension of classes in primary schools, secondary schools, and kindergartens. The Beijing Meteorological Observatory reported an average precipitation of 2.7 mm on Wednesday, with moderate to heavy snow forecasted for Thursday.

The city is on an orange alert for heavy snow, a yellow alert for icy roads, and a blue alert for cold waves. The National Meteorological Centre extended a yellow alert for a cold wave, anticipating a temperature drop of 8 to 12 degrees Celsius in various parts of China. The extreme weather has prompted cautionary measures and disruptions in transportation and education across affected regions.
