PM Modi and Mamata Banerjee Likely to Meet on December 20 to Discuss Pending Dues
A crucial meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee regarding the pending central dues to the state government is expected to take place on December 20, according to sources from the state secretariat. Mamata Banerjee had formally requested a meeting between December 18 and December 20, and positive indications have reportedly been received from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
While the proposed meeting is likely to occur within the Parliament premises at 11 a.m. on December 20, it remains unclear whether it will be a one-on-one discussion or involve Trinamool Congress MPs, as suggested by Mamata Banerjee.
The Chief Minister is scheduled to be in New Delhi from December 18 onwards, but details of her schedule remain confidential. The meeting is crucial as Mamata Banerjee has emphasized the urgency of addressing West Bengal’s halted central funds under various schemes, including MGNREGA, PMAY, NHM, and PMGSY.
