Egypt to Receive Newborns from Al-Shifa Hospital Amid Operational Halt
Following the suspension of operations at Gaza’s Al-Shifa Hospital due to a lack of fuel, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi has instructed the country’s medical sector to receive 35 premature babies from the facility. Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar stated that ambulances and incubators are prepared at the Rafah crossing to facilitate the transfer of newborns.
The hospital’s halt in operations resulted from the Israeli forces raid, alleging the presence of a command center and weapons linked to the Hamas militant group. Hamas has refuted these claims. The ongoing situation has led to a humanitarian crisis, with patients, including premature infants, facing critical challenges due to the lack of electricity and medical resources.
