Jaishankar and Blinken Foster Strong Indo-US Ties Ahead of 2+2 Dialogue
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken engaged in a constructive meeting in New Delhi, laying the groundwork for the upcoming fifth edition of the India-US 2+2 Defence and Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue. Describing the talks as “open and productive,” Jaishankar highlighted the significance of the visit, emphasizing the need to follow up on Prime Minister Modi’s June visit to the US and President Biden’s September visit to India.
The discussions covered a broad spectrum, including the strengthening of strategic partnerships, geopolitical issues in the Indo-Pacific, and concerns regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict.
Both diplomats underscored the comprehensive nature of their talks, expressing commitment to the Quad alliance and addressing global challenges. The forthcoming 2+2 dialogue is expected to further solidify bilateral relations, with discussions focusing on deals such as the US supplying and manufacturing engines for Indian fighter jets, MQ-9 predator drones, and semiconductor manufacturing.
