Nine Militants Killed as Terror Attack on Pakistan Air Force Base Thwarted

A terror attack on a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) training base in Mianwali was successfully foiled, resulting in the death of at least nine militants, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The ISPR confirmed the conclusion of the “combing and clearance operation” at the PAF Training Airbase Mianwali, noting that all nine terrorists involved had been neutralized.

The operation was initiated to eliminate any potential threats in the surrounding area following the attempted attack on the base earlier in the day. The ISPR stressed that no damage had occurred to any of the PAF’s operational assets, with only some damage to three non-operational aircraft. The prompt and professional conclusion of the operation highlighted Pakistan’s armed forces’ vigilance and capability in defending the homeland against threats.

The newly emerged Tehreek-i-Jihad Pakistan (TJP), affiliated with the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), claimed responsibility for the attack, which is part of a growing trend of terrorist incidents in Pakistan, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces. Last month, there were 99 militant attacks across the country, marking the highest monthly total in nearly nine years, according to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS).
