CMDA Directs Mall Owners to Enhance Parking and Traffic Management
The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) has issued directives to mall owners in and around the city to improve parking facilities and allocate additional space as required. In a consultative session led by Anshul Mishra, CMDA Member Secretary on October 25, it was recommended that traffic marshals wearing reflector jackets be employed to regulate vehicular movement around mall premises.
Additionally, it was mandated that malls establish separate entry and exit points for vehicles, with the aim of enhancing traffic flow and reducing congestion. These decisions follow a traffic management review meeting held on October 7, led by Chief Secretary Shiv Das Meena. Mall owners were also advised to identify temporary parking areas in the event of a surge in vehicular traffic to alleviate road congestion.
