On-Duty Home Guard Personnel Dies in Delhi After ERV Collision
In Delhi’s Dwarka area, a tragic incident occurred as an on-duty Home Guard personnel lost his life when the Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) he was patrolling in was struck by a heavy vehicle.
The deceased, identified as Dharampal, was involved in the accident. According to the police, during the night between Monday and Tuesday, ASI Mahesh Kumar and Home Guard Dharampal were on patrol in an official gypsy. While patrolling along the Najafgarh-Bahadurgarh road, the ERV was struck by a heavy vehicle, resulting in injuries to Dharampal.
He was swiftly transferred to the RTRM hospital, where doctors, unfortunately, declared him dead. A case has been registered under sections 279 and 304A of the Indian Penal Code at the Baba Haridas Nagar police station. The driver of the offending vehicle, Jai Lal, a 23-year-old from Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, was arrested, and further investigations are ongoing, as confirmed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka), M. Harsha Vardhan.
