Wild Elephant Attack Claims Life of Farmer in Karnataka’s Mysuru District
Tragedy struck in Karnataka’s Mysuru district as a farmer, identified as 65-year-old Chikke Gowda, fell victim to a wild elephant attack near the Bandipur National Park. The incident, which occurred in Nadahadi village within the Moleyuru Forest Range, sparked outrage among the local villagers, who criticized forest department officials for their apparent lack of response following the incident.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Gopalakrishna and Circle Inspector Laxmikanth promptly arrived at the scene, but the villagers demanded a more proactive approach from senior forest department officers to address the rising instances of wild elephant attacks in Mysuru, Hassan, Chikkamagaluru, and Kodagu districts.
This incident serves as a grim reminder of the growing challenges posed by human-wildlife conflicts in the region, with a previous attack reported on a member of the rapid response team in Kodagu district just a month earlier.
