Woman Social Activist Murdered in Odisha’s Ganjam District
Unknown miscreants killed Soudamini Rath, a woman social activist and member of Ganjam’s district Child Welfare Committee (CWC), at her residence in Nilakanthanagar, Odisha. Rath had returned home from a training program in Bhubaneswar two days earlier. Sources indicate the motive for the murder could have been theft, as she was believed to be away at the training.
Rath’s sister stated that, to her knowledge, she had no known animosity with anyone. The murder occurred as she was talking to a colleague on the phone, and the assailant struck her from behind with an iron rod. When her colleague and associates arrived at her home upon hearing her scream, they found her in a pool of blood. Police are investigating the case, and the deceased’s driver has been detained for questioning.
