Key Conspirator in Pathankot Attack, Shahid Latif, Shot Dead in Pakistan
Shahid Latif, one of India’s most wanted terrorists and a crucial figure in the 2016 Pathankot attack, was reportedly shot dead by unidentified gunmen inside a mosque in Pakistan’s Sialkot. The attackers quickly fled on a motorcycle following the murder. Shahid Latif had affiliations with the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorist group.
He was implicated in guiding the four terrorists responsible for the Pathankot airbase attack in 2016, which resulted in the deaths of five security personnel. Notably, Latif was released by the Indian government in 2010, along with 24 other terrorists. His name was also listed in 1999 among the JeM terrorists demanded for release in connection with the IC 814 Indian Airlines plane hijack.
