J&K Government Sanctions Inquiry Against 10 Policemen in Vehicle Hiring Scam
The Jammu and Kashmir government has approved an inquiry into the alleged corrupt practices of 10 policemen, including an SSP and his subordinates, regarding the hiring of vehicles for the Srinagar police control room. The crime branch will conduct the investigation under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The officials involved in the vehicle hiring scam, which includes showing more vehicles hired than the actual number, face allegations of embezzlement and causing a substantial loss to the state’s exchequer. This is the second such scam related to the police control room in Srinagar, with a previous one revealed in a Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) report.
