Hyderabad Hotel Sealed Over Food Safety and Hygiene Concerns
Municipal authorities in Hyderabad have sealed Alpha Hotel in Secunderabad due to severe food safety and hygiene concerns. The Food Safety Wing of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) took this action after finding that the hotel’s management had failed to address significant irregularities in adhering to safety standards.
The decision came after a follow-up inspection, which was conducted two days after the initial inspection following a customer complaint. During the first inspection, officials collected food samples for suspected violations of the Food Safety and Standards Act, of 2006. Despite issuing a notice to the hotel management to rectify identified issues, the follow-up inspection revealed inadequate steps had been taken to improve hygienic conditions, leading to the hotel’s closure.
The GHMC has requested further actions against the hotel’s management from the district administration. Previously, the hotel’s management faced legal action after a customer reported falling ill following a meal at the establishment.
