55% of Viaduct Completed on Chennai Metro Rail’s Poonamallee-Porur Corridor

The Poonamallee-Porur stretch of Chennai Metro Rail’s Phase 2 project has achieved nearly 55% completion of the viaduct. Construction of 316 pillars has been completed, and the contractor has been instructed to expedite the remaining work.

The entire stretch, part of Corridor 4 of Phase 2, is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2025. The contractor is set to begin track laying next month, and if deadlines are met, this work will conclude by April next year. However, sources suggest that additional manpower may be needed to ensure the project’s timely completion.
