Poor State of Interior Access Roads in Chennai’s Manapakkam and Mugalivakkam Areas Causes Hardships
Residents of Manapakkam and Mugalivakkam in Chennai are facing significant difficulties due to the poor condition of several interior roads under the Greater Chennai Corporation’s jurisdiction. These roads have deteriorated over the past 18 months due to multiple government agencies simultaneously conducting sewer pipeline and stormwater drain projects.
The lack of coordination among these agencies has left the roads in a dismal state. With the ongoing Metro Rail project on St. Thomas Mount-Poonamallee Road, residents are relying on these interior roads for daily commuting. Additionally, an increase in road height has led to flooding in ground-floor residential flats, forcing residents to relocate. They are urging the Chennai Corporation to mill and relay these roads for better accessibility and to prevent flooding.
