Intermittent Rain and Thunderstorms Expected in Parts of Tamil Nadu
Several parts of Tamil Nadu are anticipated to experience intermittent rain and thunderstorms throughout the week. The state has received 17.4 cm of rainfall since June 1, which is 6% below the seasonal average. The break condition of the southwest monsoon is likely to continue until the end of the month, according to meteorologists.
Although cyclonic circulation over northern Tamil Nadu has weakened, leading to a temporary halt in heavy rainfall prospects, enhanced rainfall is predicted for parts of Tamil Nadu around August 28 and 29. Despite the weakened monsoon, places like Madurai, Virudhunagar, Karur, Tiruchi, and Chennai received moderate to heavy rain due to trough line activity.
However, the lack of cloud cover might result in increased day temperatures, with thunderstorm activity expected during evening or night hours. The Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rain until Friday in Chennai, and the weak southwest monsoon has also affected neighboring Kerala’s rainfall and day temperature.
