Death Toll Rises to Four in Tragic School Children Road Accident
The death toll from a devastating road accident near Gollaradoddi village in Ramanagara district, where a speeding goods vehicle ran over a group of school children, has reached four. The accident occurred on August 9, claiming the lives of two children on the spot and another succumbing to injuries three days later.
The most recent victim has been identified as seven-year-old Jnaneshwari, who was undergoing treatment at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases hospital in Bengaluru. She passed away on Sunday night. In response to the tragedy, the family, relatives, and locals staged a protest by placing the girl’s body on the Ramanagara-Magadi road, demanding suitable compensation and urging authorities to take action against rash and negligent driving that endangers school children.
Former Chief Minister and JD(S) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy expressed shock over the incident and emphasized the need for ensuring the safety of school children.
