Chennai and Suburbs to Get Clean Street Food Hubs
The Chennai Corporation is taking steps to establish clean street food hubs in the city and its suburbs to offer residents hygienic and safe street food options. Additionally, similar hubs will be developed in the districts of Nagapattinam and Coimbatore. The State government is in the process of finalizing the locations for these hubs, and they will consist of clusters of 20 or more food vendors who will adhere to basic hygiene and sanitary standards.
Local bodies in the selected districts will provide the land for the development of these hubs, which will operate in compliance with food safety regulations. The Chennai Corporation has already identified potential locations for clean street food hubs within the city, and the final decision on the five chosen areas is expected to be made on August 3, 2023.
Each hub will undergo an audit to ensure it meets the necessary requirements and will be recognized as a clean street food hub by the local authorities.
