At least 31 lost their lives in a heavy flood in Afghanistan
Devastating flash floods have claimed the lives of at least 31 people in Afghanistan, leaving 74 injured and 41 others reported missing, according to the Taliban’s Ministry of Disaster Management. The floods, triggered by heavy seasonal rains, have caused significant damage in seven provinces, with 606 residential houses and hundreds of acres of agricultural land affected.
Rescue operations have been conducted by teams from various ministries and organizations, including the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Public Welfare, and the Red Crescent. The Taliban’s Ministry of State for Disaster Management has been providing food and cash aid to nearly 100,000 families affected by natural disasters in different provinces since the beginning of 2023.
The situation remains critical as authorities continue to assess the extent of the damage and provide relief efforts.
