Rs. 2.32 crore cash seized from government officer’s residence
The vigilance wing of Assam Police conducted raids at the residence of a senior government officer in Dhubri district and seized over Rs 2.32 crore in cash. Biswajit Goswami, an Assam Civil Service (ACS) officer and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dhubri Zila Parishad was found in possession of the cash during the raid.
The vigilance wing had received a complaint alleging that Goswami had demanded a bribe from a complainant seeking to raise a grievance. In response to the complaint, a trap was laid by the vigilance and anti-corruption wing officers at the CEO Zila Parishad office in Dhubri. The raid resulted in the seizure of a large sum of cash, indicating possible corrupt practices by the government officer.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and purpose of the seized cash. The incident has raised concerns about corruption in government offices and highlights the importance of vigilance in curbing such illegal activities.
