NewsClick Journalist Abhisar Sharma Summoned for Questioning in China Funding Case

Delhi Police’s Special Cell has called NewsClick journalist Abhisar Sharma for questioning in connection with an alleged China funding case. Sharma will be questioned at the Lodhi Colony police station regarding foreign funds amounting to crores of rupees that were allegedly funneled into India by Indian and foreign entities with the intent to disrupt the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security.

This development comes after NewsClick founder-editor Prabir Purkayastha and HR head Amit Chakravarty were remanded to seven days of police custody under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The case was registered on August 17 under various sections, including unlawful activities and promoting enmity between different groups.
