The venue is Mylapore Fine Arts Club and the
time was 12 noon.
Subhiksha Rangarajan, daughter of Artist Lakshmi
Rangarajan, accompanied on the violin by Sandeep Bharadwaj who is a disciple
of Smt Suguna Varadachari and Shri R.K. Shriram Kumar and mridangam by sri
Hariharan.
The concert began with Sahaana varnam
continued with :
Maayamaalava goulai,(maaya theetha swaroopini)
Natabairavi (Sri vallee
devasenapathe)
Bekada (naadhopaasana)
Rudhrapriya (Rudhra)
Varaali
(Kaamaakshi) - elaborate presentation
followed by
darbaari,
bhajan
and finally
Kaapi - a strong kaapi i should say - Jagadhor udhdhaarana.
Every bit of the total performance was good and pleasing to the ears.
Grammatic and grand performance.
Suggestion for improvement:
Subiksha
- please learn to smile not only to your mother - but also to the whole
audience. A smile costs nothing but earns many things and it establishes a
rapport with the audience. You need not go far to learn the smiling art;
learn it from your mother.
Sandeep Bharadwaj did a very good job on the
violin. He needs practice to sit for a longer time in padmaasana without
getting cramps or to see that the legs do not go numb.
Any reader who is
reading this review can suggst yoga therapists in the city - who can help
the young artistes, how to maintain sitting postures for a long time,
without running into problems.
