An all time empress of the world of music. Intelligent par excellence. A legend. We are talking about none other than the great M S Subbulakshmi. 'MS and Radha - Saga of Steadfast Devotion', a book authored by Gowri Ramnarayan has captured all the attributes of the unmatched queen of carnatic music. The book was released at Music Academy recently in the city by Surjit Singh Barnala , Governor of Tamil Nadu.

Speaking on the occasion, Barnala said," Her music had a universal appeal and the all pervading aura of 'Bhakthi' in her music swayed one and all". The book contains interesting incidents and anecdotes and also moments on the early life of M.S. and Sadasivam. Many lively and rare photographs taken on different occasions complete the book. The book revealed the devotion and love Radha Viswanathan had for her mother M.S. Subbulakshmi.
Speaking on the occasion, Gowri Ramnarayan, the author of the book said, "My intention was to write a coffee table book, but I realized what I was writing was not her life story but her dharma, morals, purity and innocence of heart. I couldn't have done it hadn't I been a great fan of her for about fifteen years".
Mr N. Murali, President of the Music Academy recalled the memories of how the auditorium used to roar with M.S's concerts. Murali observed "The history of Music Academy is intertwined with the music of M.S. She is the only women who have brought grace and dignity to human values. She was more than a cultural ambassador"

The evening also saw the launch of the website www.msstribute.org
with anecdotes,key moments, memories shared by families and friends and also rare speeches by M.S in Tamil.
Cho Ramasamy, said "More than her music what made has made her great was her divinity which in turn has made her an unforgettable person. She has the power to elevate the society and the people around her".
Mridanga Vidwan T.K.Murthy, Vyjayanthimala Bali, V. Srinivasan, Managing Trustee, Suswaralakshmi Foundation for Classical Music and Performing Arts, the organizers of the programme, Kamakshi Mallikarjun and M Murali of Sri Krishna Sweets, were among those who graced the evening with their memorable notes on M S.
