Accompanied
by seasoned artistes like B Sivaraman on mridangam and Madipakkam Murali on
ghatam Sandeep Bharadhawaj, a 13-year old NRI from Chicago USA gave a
splendid violin recital at Vadapalani temple for The Sriragam fine arts.
A disciple of the eminent Suguna Varadachari and R K Shriram kumar ,
Sandeep's recital was profound and pleasant. He plunged into Vandenithamaham
by Mysore Vasudevachariar in Hamsadhwani after succinct sketch of the raga.
His rendition of following piece Sabapathiku in abogi was aesthetic and was
able to essay the entire gamut of the raga with ease. The Kalpana Swaras was
dripping with the essence of the raga. His Vinyasa of Sankarabharanam, a
melakartha raga was classy and reflected his arduous practice as he
portrayed the raga swaroopa aptly. Sandeep' s Sarojadalantheri was packed
with exquisite sangatis and his niraval and swaras were sculpted with utmost
care.
He chose the Mmelakartha ragas for the main and sub main as the Karaharapriya
another melakartha raga was the main piece of the concert. He strictly adhered
to tradition while delineating karaharapriya . Pakkalanilabadi by Thyagaraja was
delivered at an unhurried pace by the youngster. Every sangati was full of bhava
and his facile rendition of niraval and swaras were sparkling like gems.
B Sivaraman on the mridangam enhanced the concert with his mild strokes .
Madipakkam Murali on ghatam was supportive . The tani of Sivaraman and
Murali was educative replete with intricate rhythmic patterns.
