Sriram Parthasarathy is a trapeze artiste straddling two genres of music with élan. A stellar disciple of Neyveli Santhanagopalan, Sriram's recital at Ranjani hall, Nanganallur was steeped in classicism. After a sedate rendition of Nadhathanumanisam in the raga Chittaranjani he slipped into the soporific Yadhukula kamboji Kaalai thooki . Since it was Annamalai Deepam he dedicated the evening to Lord Shiva. His succinct sketch of Khamas for Edathupadam Thooki Aadum revealed his creative skill. His concert had a sprinkling of fast paced songs as well.

Sriram's rendition of Eppadipadinaro in Karnatakadevagandhari was like a lullaby and the Male Manivanna Thirupavvai of Andal in Kunthalavarali made us cruise on the melodic terrain.

His exposition of the main piece Saravanabhava by Papanasam Sivan in Shanmukapriya reflected his fertile imagination. His full throated rendition of the song communicated the nuances of the raga deftly. The Niraval and Swara passages mirrored his unswerving adherence to tradition.

M R Gopinath on the violin entranced the rasikas with his sketches of khamas and Shanmukapriya. The melodic strains of his violin had aesthetic inputs.

B Ganapathyraman on the Mridangam played in sync with the artistes.

Trivandrum Rajagopal on the kanjira was awesome. Their tani was like a question and answer session with rhythmic inputs.
