It rains music in December and the sabhas and music halls are flooded
with music drenching the rasikas with a season of soulful music. Besides the
concerts and workshops several artistes are recognized for their excellence
in their streams. One such organization is the Guruvayoor Durai trust
founded by the Mridangam maestro Guruvayoor Durai which presented the
Guruvayoor Dorai excellence award to Trichy Thayumanavar, a mridangaist of
repute who belongs to the sishya parampara of the famous Pudukottai
Dakshinamurthi Pillai.
Several eminent personalities graced the occasion - M A Baby -minister of
education and culture,Govt of Kerala, K J Jesudas, Cleveland Sundaram, T V
Gopalakrishnan and L Sabaratnam.
Trichy Thayumanavan in his acceptance speech thanked the trust and
expressed his desire that music should be nurtured and propagated.
