When were you initiated into music?
At a very young age when I was hardly aware of it. My mother who has a penchant for music decided that I should learn the art.

Can you tell us about your gurus?
I have had the fortune of tutored by eminent gurus like Dr S Ramanathan a treasure trove of music. Savithri Sathyamurthi who honed my skills. My tutelage under P S Narayanaswamy has broadened my horizons.

How did you drift towards Carnatic music?
I felt that I attracted towards the genre during my interaction with Vijay Siva. Sanjay Subramaniam .T M Krishna , RK Shriram kumar at al at YACM -Youth association of classical music where we used to discuss at a great length about this elite and rich art.

About your foray in film music?
I used to sing cine songs while young and I was also performing for a troupe. A R Rehman spotted me and gave me a break in Kadhalan- Ennavale. My basis in classical music helps me a lot in rendering film songs.

Have you conceived anything novel for the music season this time?
I cannot detract form the prescribed format as it is traditional and we cannot claim to have done anything new. Only our imagination can help us to embellish a concert.
