How did you get interested in Jalatarangam?
I belong to a renowned musical parampara as my grand father , father and brother were connoisseurs in music. My father is a jalatarangam vidwan and I inherited the legacy from him.

Who was your guru?
Obviously my father who taught me vocal to start with and I learnt violin also.


Who goaded you to take jalatarangam?
The sage of Kanchi -Paramacharya who asked me to take up Jalatarangam as my profession as he felt that it is our heirloom. I thought that it was my duty to preserve the family heritage.

About your travails of travels abroad?
It is difficult to carry the porcelain cups and I keep it safely as I am very possessive about it. In cold countries I keep track of the temperature of the water.
