May 19th is Sangeetha Kalanidhi Ariyakudi Ramanuja Iyengar's birth anniversary and The Indian Council for Cultural Relations and Ariyakudi Music Foundation will celebrate the day with a Violin Solo Concert by Kalaimamani Dr. M Lalitha of the Violin sisters (Kalaimamani M. Nandini) on May 19 at Sastri Hall, Luz at 6. 30 pm.

There will also be a special Multimedia Presentation produced by the Violin sisters on `The Life of Sri Ariyakudi Ramanuja Iyengar and his Contribution to the World of Music'.

The Violin sisters acclaimed as the `Only Female Duo in Asia to perform the World music, South Indian Classical, Fusion and Western Classical music' by Le Mauricien are known for their immaculate fingering and bowing techniques. They are regarded as highly imaginative virtuoso Violinists. The violin sisters have specialized in playing Varnam-s in different grades of tempo and in playing Kalpana Svara-s in many grades of speed, enraptures audience.Recently they became the First south indian musicians to be interviewed by the BBC Radio 3 and to have performed Carnatic violin duet there.

A fitting tribute indeed to the great Musical Genius on his birth anniversary.
