Roja is back in the industry. The actress, who tried her hand in politics in her home State of Andhra Pradesh, is now feeling crest-fallen as not many encouraging things seem to be happening on the political front in her favour. Married to director-producer R.K. Selvamani, Roja is now back in Kollywood and has sounded her ‘contacts’ here that she’s ready to take on all kinds of roles.
Roja is one of the very few actresses in the country to have played heroine in more than 100 films in various languages, which is an unique record. Afte debuting as heroine in the early nineties, Roja went on to star opposite almost all the leading heroes including Rajinikanth, Vijayakanth, Sathyaraj, Prabhu, Karthick, Prabhudeva, Prashanth, etc. but missed out on pairing up opposite Kamal Haasan for reasons best known to her.
After dabbling in politics, she is now back to where she belongs. She has reportedly landed up a major role in Bharathiraaja’s upcoming film Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum (AK) which has been in the news recently for all the wrong reasons. Roja, whose smile was once loved a lot by her fans and movie-goers, is also playing the prominent role of an advocate in Karthi’s upcoming film Saguni.
She also has three more films in her kitty. Talking about her comeback trail, she says “I play a very important role in AK wherin I play Karthika’s mother. I’m wholly satisfied about my role in the film. I’m also upbeat about the advocate’s role I play in Saguni. I’m happy to be in Kollywood for my second innings!”
