Actress Genelia D'Souza might tie the nuptial knot with Bollywood actor Ritesh Deshmukh in the first week of the ensuing year, sources close to the actress have revealed. Goan girl Genelia is one of actor Vijay’s two heroines in his latest film Velayudham, which released on Deepavali last month and has since been declared a super-hit film by trade circles.
The chirpy Genelia hasn’t done many Tamil films at all: in fact, she has only done 5 Tamil films in all in the form of Boys, Sachein, Santosh Subramaniapuram, Uthamaputhiran and Velayudham. She also has another film of her gearing up for release in Tamil, which is Santosh Sivan’s Urumi, a film which has been made in more than one language.
Though Ritesh and Deshmukh were denying that they were seeing each other, some time back, it was confirmed that their engagement had in fact taken place at Deshkuk’s residence in Mumbai. It was also said that Velayudham could well turn out to be Genalia’s last film in Tamil as she might not don the grease paint again once she gets married to Deshmukh.
Initially, parents of both Genelia and Ritesh were not in favour of their love affair; yet, the couple was determined to stand united and finally, they won the consent from their respective parents. Readers might recall that Ritesh is son of Vilasrao Deshkukh, a member of the Union Cabinet and a former chief-minister of Maharashtra.
Sources insist that the date of marriage has been fixed as 04.02.2012. Only very few close friends and relatives of both the families would be invited for the marriage, it is said. Genelia is in a very happy frame of mind as Velayudham has become a hit; so also is the Malayalam version of Urumi.
