The lastest ‘hot talk’ in Kollywood is director Gautham Vasudev Menon’s decision to sign Dhanush to play the lead role in his upcoming untitled directorial venture.  Menon is presently busy with the making of Needhanae En Ponvasantham starring Jiiva and Samantha in lead roles.  The film has music by Maestro Ilaiyaraaja, who gets to work with Menon for the first time.

Dhanush has a couple of films on hand at present.  The first one is to be directed by Bharat Bala while the second one would be made by Simbudevan.  On Menon’s request, Dhanush reportedly went to his place and discussed the script as well as his fee for the film.  In all probablility, he might align with Menon for a new film.
 
Menon, who announced Yohan: Adhyayam Ondru last year with Vijay in the lead role, is yet to start work on the film.  Sources close to the director say that he would first complete the Jiiva-Samantha starrer, then handle the Vijay-starrer and finally start work on Dhanush-starrer.  The heroine opposite Dhanush and the rest of the actors haven’t yeat been finalized.
