The audio-launch of the film 'Aval Peyar Thamizharasi', directed by Meera Kathiravan, was held on the other day in the city. The audio-launch was followed up by a 'meet-the-press' programme in which the lead actors and the director took part to answer the queries from the scribes. The film brings to the fore the dying folk art of Thol Paavai Koothu, a folk dance form on the lines of Karagattam.

Speaking to reporters, director Meera Kathiravan said, "I have been conceiving the story for the past ten years, putting in quite a lot of on-field research work. I even sought the guidance of veterans Balumahendraa and Thangar Bachchan before finalizing and fine-tuning the script and the screenplay. A few months back, I went to the office of Moserbaer and gave the rough copy to Dhananjeyan, the CEO.
"The very next day, Dhananjeyan called me up over phone and said that Moserbaer would be glad to produce the film with me as director. Immediately, I requested him that there shouldn't be any interference in the accepted script from any quarter to which Dhananjeyan agreed. I'm thankful to him for having kept his word; I had absolutely no interference whatsoever in the script and dialogues and have made the film the way I wanted to be!"
Dhananjeyan told in a lighter vein that much shouldn't be read in to the fact that the film is being sent to participate in some Film Festivals. "It doesn't imply that Avan Peyar Thamizharasi is an art film or a film belonging to the genre of 'parallel cinema', etc. I assure you that it'd be a pucca commercial film, fulfilling the expectations of the viewers," he said.
Noted artist Veera Santhanam has played an important role in the film, which is a December release.
