Kutty : Movie Review

'Kutty', the remake of the Telugu super hit 'Arya-1', is not a typical Dhanush kind of entertainer though it might sound so.  It is all about how one handles his 'one sided love affair' and whether his faith ultimately pays off or not.

Dhanush plays the cool and fun loving college guy name Kutty. His cool and funny character makes him popular in the college. He proposes to Geethanjali (Shriya), a stunner in the same college, who is already in 'love' with a rich guy out of sheer compulsion.

Kutty, however, has no qualms in preserving his one sided love for Geetha. He in fact helps Geetha to marry her lover, who doesn't like Kutty. Things get serious when the rich boy's father (an MP, enacted by Radha Ravi) wants his son to forget Geetha. Kutty takes up the task of uniting Geetha and his lover .

The process makes Geetha understand Kutty's character. The marriage comes closer even as Geetha feels for Kutty. In what direction her heart leans and how she deals the situation lead to the emotion filled climax.

The love triangle involving Dhanush, Shriya and Sameer has been woven neatly and narrated with interest. The screenplay though, lacks in pace in the second half. The romance that exists like an invisible wall among the three fails to connect with the audience.

Dhanush has injected life into the proceedings with his flawless performance through the character of a simple, shy guy who yearns for love.  Sameer Dattani is just about there while Shriya Saran has got a welcome break from her glam roles.  She looks fresh and enacts her role with maturity. Veteran Radha Ravi doesn't add any value while Meghna Naidu sizzles in the item number.

Mithran has managed to present an entertainer with a different story line and an interesting script. Music by Devi Sriprasad is a big disappointment.

'Kutty', deals with triangular love in a different style, has come out as a Bollywood-kind of feel-good romantic flick though the slow-paced narration in the second half mars the impact.
