Director Susi Ganesan seems to have gone the Shankar way. His Kandasamy carrying a mass theme made on an extravagant budget talks about unequal distribution of wealth among people. Susi has set out to explore as to why the rich gets more richer and poor gets poorer.

Kandasamy, a Robinhood story in Kollywood, seems to be a collage of movies including Ramana, Shivaji and Anniyan. But for its technical brilliance, Kandasamy provides one déjà vu ride managing to sustain interest only in parts.

Kandasamy , the Lord at Thriuporur Murugan temple becomes famous after general belief here that if you write your genuine wishes in a paper and tie it on a tree, it would be fulfilled immediately. Kandasamy(Vikram), a la Robinhood, dressed as a rooster, emerges in the night to help people solve their problems. The sudden fame for the temple raises suspicion among police. A tough BI CID inspector Parandhaman (Prabhu), takes up the task of investigating the issue.
Meanwhile, a cool stylish CBI officer Kandasamy (Vikram), part of its economic offences wing, takes up the task of bringing out black money from rich and wealthy men. Interestingly both the Kanthaswamy’s are same. The CBI officer comes across Ponnusamy also called as PPP (Ashish Vidyarthi), a rich man in the town. Kandasamy brings out his black money. In a bid to revenge Kanthaswamy, PPP's daughter
Subbulakshmi (Shriya) pretends loving him. The cat and mouse game starts and it is up to how Kandasamy succeed in his zeal.
It is Vikram show all the way. The actor seems to have given his heart-out playing a suave CBI officer and the super hero Kandasamy. As a lovable Robinhood, he excels coming in various costumes.
Shriya Saran sports a different look, playing a gutsy role. Prabhu appears in a role that fails to sustain any interest while Ashish Vidyarthy and his team play cliched baddies. Unfortunately the comedy track featuring Vadivelu serves no purpose.
Cinematographer N K Ekambaram captures the racy scenes well, while the Mexico scenes has been shot on a dull tone. Devi Sri Prasad catchy musical score is appealing.
Kalapuli S Thanu needs to be appreciated for producing a movie that speaks on rich and poor divide in a rich manner. Susi has made sincere efforts to give us an entertainer exploiting the skills of Vikram but somehow we feel that he could have done better. He could have avoided a couple of songs (Shriya’s introductory song and Vikram’s Pizza song) to make the narrative faster. The scene in which Vikram appears in a woman get up too seems to be a speed breaker though the actor has done a marvelous job here. Likewise, doing away with a few comedy scenes by Vadivel could have saved the tempo.
Verdict: Kandasamy is an entertainer all the way thanks to Vikram and technical brilliance.
