After producing quality films in Tamil like Azhagiya Theeyae, Mozhi, Vellithirai, Abhiyum Naanum, Payanam, etc., actor-producer Prakashraj has turned director in Tamil films for the first time with his latest film Dhoni which also has him playing the lead role of the father of an aspiring cricketer. As always, Prakashraj’s acting has won him kudos. His directorial efforts have also been appreciated.

Though he has directed films in Telugu and Kannada, Dhoni is his first directorial venture in Tamil. The film has been doing reasonably well, according to trade sources. It is now reported that Dhoni’s wife and popular Bollywood dance choreographer Pony Verma has also been stricken by the urge to make films and is planning to turn director very soon.
Prakash married Pony Verma last year after getting formal divorce decree from his wife of more than ten years. He is said to have okayed his wife’s proposal to try her hand at direction. Obviously, Bony’s debut film as director would be produced by Prakashraj’s banner Duet Movies.
Talking about her fascination to make movies, Bony says, “I have always wanted to something novel which hasn’t been attempted by others. Many choreographers before me have proved themselves as successful film-makers too. Prabhudeva and Bollywood’s Sanjay Leela Bhansali are shining examples in this regard. Taking cue from them, I have also decided to direct a film with the self-belief that I can do it successfully.
“The film I’m planning would be a pure commercial venture. I’m on friendly terms with many popular heroes and one of them would be cast in the lead role. I assisted my hubby Prakashraj during the making of Dhoni and was with him continually on the sets like an assistant director during the shooting of the film and learnt many nuances of film-making. I’m hopeful of doing a decent job,” concludes Bony.
