Ever wondered what could be the driving force or the impetus which music wizard A.R. Rahman needs to produce good music? Before you are ready with your answers, have this: it’s nothing but nature and a peaceful backdrop. The twin-Oscar awards winner has gone ahead and revealed the ‘secret’ behind churning out chart-busters at regular intervals in Tamil and Hindi.

Rahman, who debuted with ace director Maniratnam’s Roja more than two decades back, has been going strong despite criticisms from some quarters about the pace with which he works. “I’m obviously inspired by all the good things in life and the great personalities I come across. Of course, nature and peaceful atmosphere play a big part in making me at peace with myself and concentrate on my work.
“Only one the heart is filled with peace, the needs of others is understood clearly. I compose music for those who want things in a ‘different’ manner,” says Rahman while speaking at the launch of Asli Music, the music video launched by the national award-winning sound engineer K.J. Singh in New Delhi.
“Music ought to be loved by all especially the younger generation which flocks to the cinema halls to catch some good music. As far as I’m concerned, composing and listening to music is sort of a ‘hiding place’ for me from the harsh realities of life. In that way, I feel good,” concluded Rahman.
