The pretty-looking Chhaya Singh, who made her
debut some years back with 'Thiruda Thirudi' opposite Dhanush and matched
steps with Dhanush in the song 'Manmadha Raasa..', hasn't been flooded with
offers but is somehow managing to keep herself busy. Her lone release in
Tamil this year, 'Vallamai Tharayo' opposite Parthiban and directed by
Madhumita, did fairly well.
She has a lone project on hand in 'Anandhapurathu Veedu', produced by
director Shankar's 'S' Pictures and directed by Naaga. She has replaced
Meera Jasmine in this film after the latter was shown the door by the
producer. She says that she has committed to act in a couple of films, the
shooting of which would start from January next year.
In one of the films, Chhaya said that, she was acting as the sister of
Vishnuvardhan. 'I feel nothing wrong in playing the role of 'sister'. People
seem to regret the fact that I'm playing a 'sister'. After all, sisters do
exist, don't they?' asks Chhaya and says that though she played the sister,
she was in fact the heroine of the film.
Chhaya appears to be preparing to break the myth that by playing 'sister'
role, a heroine loses out on her market value. The added tailpiece is that
in the film under reference, Chaaya has reportedly agreed to act 'very'
glamourously as she has never done before in any of her films.
Of course, who would say no to such a 'sister'?
