Kamal's Golden Jubilee

Fifty years have gone by since 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal faced the camera as a very cute and innocent-looking boy in the film 'Kalathur Kannamma'. The actor has grown in stature by leaps and bounds in the succeeding five decades and is still going strong. Kamal's fans clubs are said to be planning to celebrate the 'fifty-year long stint' of their Thalaivar in a grand manner.

Superstar Rajnikanth, actor Suriya and lyricist Vairamuthu have reportedly consented to participate in the function. Besides Kollywood's VIPs, the fans are planning to make superstars from other languages too to participate in the grand-gala event. A popular vernacular channel has come forward to foot the huge expenditure in connection with the event.

An effort is on to make a list of all those heroines who have acted opposite Kamal and to invite all of them to take part in the function. It's to be seen how far they would be succeeding in their attempts. The event has tentatively been fixed to be held on 30th August.

Let's gear up to salute Kamal!

@ Moham300.... Please stop scolding...Getting awards is not the thing...Please don`t count awards..they are only for some countries and artists in some films produced, directed by english men Don`t compare kamal with some commercial actors .. As you have watched many films ,you are very familiar with SOME (only some of the actors you mentioned )commercial actors, you are telling this. One thing I stress..They are not evergreen icons..

i sincerely wish and pray kamal uncle all successes in his future. its not the matter of winning awards. to win one must compromise or cheat people to a bit atleast. kamal uncle lives and performs to his conscious and his service is worth lots more than awards.if i'm blessed to get one moment with him its the greatest asset to my life.

KAMAL deserves any amount of praise. He is a class, uncomparable- in serious roles or in hilarious roles. And to stay 50 years in films- whoof- only Manorma / Sukumari(malayalam) can match!

Guys: Please tell me how Kamal Haasan has become an "Ulaga Nayagan"? Do you know what is "Ulagam"? Did he win a BAFTA or a Golden Globe or an Oscar in his 50 years of "acting"? He is like any other local actors, nothing more or less. I consider Sivaji Ganesan, MGR and Gemini Ganesan, MR Radha etc truly great actors. But none were "Ulaga Nayagans" either. Kamal Haasan just can't come close to these evergreen film icons. But, anyway, I congratulate him ! The REAL "Ulaga Nayagan" from entire India is OscAR Rahman. Nobody else. No Rajinikanth, No Kamal, No Big Buchchan, Nobody in my opinion. Sorry if I have ruffled your fine feathers! Jai Ho.

kamal .. is a great actor in India today. no doubt? Is he the best in the world? Then why call him Ulaganayagan? Does it mean anything? Shivaji and couple of young actors have won more Internatioanl awards than Kamalji.. Anyway he is one of the best In India!

The only idiotic thing Kamal did was to proclaim himself as an atheist and join hands with the rowdy gang Veeramani's DKand wear black shirt. Perhaps Kamal felt awkward to be a brahmin, so in order to mingle and identify with the masses he did that. He can be pardoned for this. But whatever you say, we cannot accpet Kamal acting as rowdy characters like Virumandi, etc as he has an innocent milk-bubbling white colour face.
