Sarath
Kumar is on to his next film. And this time it's a remake.
Sarath is playing the lead in 'Nam Naadu', a remake of the
Dilip-starrer in Malayalam, 'Lion'. Action-oriented, the film is
a political thriller which has already been remade by Dr
Rajasekhar in Telugu. Earlier it was Tamanna who was signed to
play the female lead. But with the actress having signed for
director Balaji Shaktivel's new film 'Kalloori', she has quit
the film. It's Kartika, an actress from Malayalam films, who has
replaced her. Incidentally, the film was earlier titled 'Azhagiri'.
But the name being close to Tamil politics and recent political
developments, the title has been changed to 'Nam Naadu'.
'Naan Kadavul' shoot begins
The
unit of 'Naan Kadavul' is all set to commence shooting. The
problems related to production seem to have been finally solved.
Directed by Bala and starring Arya, the film had its first
schedule at Benaras. The unit went back again to shoot live the
Ardh Kumbh Mela where Naga Sadhus participated. Returning to
Chennai, the unit had planned to begin their next schedule, when
problems cropped up between te film's producer and director. The
schedule never took off. But now one hears that the production
has changed hands and it's Pyramid Saimira who have taken over
the film. Bhavana, who had shot for a couple of days, is now
busy with her Malayalam and Tamil assignments. And it's a new
face that Bala has been waiting anxious for. But now all that
wait has ended. The film may yet be worth all the trouble, as it
may well be the turning point in his career.
Jeevan plays positive
Though
he started as a hero in 'University', Jeevan got to be
appreciated in roles with negative shades. Like in 'Kakka Kakka',
'Thiruttu Payale' and the recently released 'Naan Avan Illai'.
The success of these films and the appreciation he's been
getting has him elated. And now Jeevan is on to his new film 'Machakaran'
where he is paired with 'Idhaya Tirudan'-fame Kamma Jethmalani.
But this time his new film projects him in a positive role. Of a
regular hero this time. The film is directed by Thamilvana who
had directed the S J Surya-starrer 'Kalvanin Kadhali'. Meanwhile
there is his 'Thota' too. A long-pending film, it is also being
revived.
Genelia is back to Tamil
Genelia is back to Tamil films after a long
gap. The actress has been signed for director Gautham Menon's
new film 'Varanam Ayiram'. The Suriya-starrer has Ramya and
Shreya Reddy too in the lead. It's an action-thriller and the
unit has planned their first shooting schedule at Afghanisthan.
Shooting is also to take place at locations in Washington, Delhi
and Chennai among other places. Genelia has not been lucky in
her earlier forays into the Tamil film scene. Hopefully, it
would be a more successful sojourn this time.
