Reeja too busy
It's been a fast rise for this teen actress, who hails from Trichur and is doing her 10th std. Though Mallika (real name Reeja Venugopal) debuted in Malayalam film-maker Adoor Gopalakrishnan's 'Nizhalkuthu' it was with director Cheran's Tamil film
'Autograph' that she catapulted to
lime lite. Mallika has played the same role in the film's Telugu version too, and has signed about half-a-dozen offers in Tamil, Telugu, and one ('Nerukku Ner') in Malayalam. Her Tamil films include, 'Thirupachi' with Vijay, where she plays Vijay's sister, 'Mahanadigan' the Satyaraj-starrer, and 'Rascal' where Jayam Ravi is the hero.

Riya Sen gets second chance
'Arasatchi' to hit the theaters shortly, has another attraction apart from former Ms. Universe
Lara Dutta. It's Riya Sen. Remember the actress who just couldn't get her expressions right in her debut Tamil film 'Taj Mahal' directed by Bharatiraja, and in her second film 'Good Luck' where she had Prashanth as her hero? Film makers hadn't dared to repeat her after that! Riya has now been roped in to do a sizzling dance number in 'Arasatchi'.

Balaji Sakthivel directs Kadhal
Even while he's shooting for 'Anniyan' the Vikram-Sada starrer, director Shanker has launched his own production venture for his banner 'S'. Titled
'Kadhal' it has
'Boys' Bharat and debutant Sandhya in the cast. But Shanker has handed over the mantle of director to his former assistant Balaji Sakthivel, who's earlier directed the Vikram-Anita starrer 'Samurai'. For Bharat who's high on the success of the Malayalam film
'4th
People' and is also playing the same role in it's telugu version, acting in Shanker's production as the solo hero, should be the icing on the cake!

No takers for Charmi in Tamil
Like Mumtaz, she too was a T. Rajender discovery. But Charmi apart from a couple of films didn't have many takers. Those films too turning out to be duds at the box-office,
Charmi turned to Malayalam, but there too it didn't prove much fruitful. But now fortune seems to be smiling on the actress. She's played the heroine in director Krishna Vamsi's 'Sri Anjaneya', and is also acting in the Telugu version of 'Thirumalai' re-enacting the role Jyotika did in the original. Probably Tamil film-makers might take a second look at her now!
