Superstar Aamir Khan is all set to team up with Oscar-winning actress
Kate Winslet in an international film based on Saadat Hasan Manto's
famous partition story 'Toba Tek Singh', Femalefirst reported..
The pair will
star in the
film, which is
based on Manto's
take on the
madness of
partition in
1947. The story
depicts the
irony of the
situation
through the
lunatics in a
mental asylum in
1947.
Aamir is said
to have been
impressed with
the script and
will play the
character of a
mentally
retarded person
in the asylum.
If the actor
agrees to work
in the film, it
would be his
second movie on
the subject. He
had earlier
starred in Deepa
Mehta's
'Earth-1947',
which was an
adaptation of
Bapsi Sidhawa's
novel 'Ice
Candyman'.
The film will
be directed by
India-born
filmmaker Pan
Nalin, who has
earlier directed
highly acclaimed
film 'Samsara'.
Nalin hopes
to rope in
Winslet for the
project but if
she rejects it,
he will approach
Rachel Weisz to
play the role of
Dr Sophie in the
film, the
website said.
"Either Kate
or Rachel will
be doing my
film. I will be
meeting both of
them after my
Cannes trip to
finalise the
casting. Either
of them will be
able to do
justice to this
marvelous
story," Nalin
said.
