From The Director Of 'Silandhi'

Monika

Director Adhi, who tasted success with 'Silandhi', has moved on to his next project. For his next film, he has brought Shaam and Kajala together for the first time. Even the dubbed version of 'Silandhi' ran to packed houses in many halls in Andhra Pradesh, thereby bringing many offers to direct Telugu films to Adhi.

Adhi, however, was clear in his mind that he would never switch over to Telugu films and has now started his second Tamil film. Nowadays, Adhi protects his hero to such an extent that he even tells journalists not to write anything 'negative' about Shaam without consulting him (Adhi). Since Adhi's first profession was as a journalist, many press persons are only too willing to heed his request.

Monika was the heroine in 'Silandhi' for which she underwent a complete makeover of her image from that of a girl-next-door to a glamourous looking girl. Her glamour and her intimate scenes with newcomer Munna were the success secrets of 'Silandhi'. The success of 'Silandhi' brought many similar offers to Monika who turned down most of them.

When she asked Adhi to cast her in his next film, he refused politely saying that if a director were to cast the same heroine in his successive films, it would give rise to many 'unwanted' rumours. Adhi, still a journalist at heart, had explained this to Monika and has now chosen to go ahead with Shaam and Kajala.
