Mumbai-based model Deepa Chari will be debuting in 'Balam', directed by Muralikrishna. Murali has given a break to Yugendran, actor and son of veteran playback singer Malaysia Vasudevan, as a music director in this film. The doting son Yugendran has promptly made his father, who doesn't sing much nowadays, sing a song in the film and has also made him pen a lyric in the film.

The audio of 'Balam', whose balam (strength) is touted as its screenplay, was released at a recent function in 'FRAMES' in Chennai.



Speaking at the event, Gangai Amaren regretted the prevailing trend of 'directors' deciding to write the lyrics of their films (has he forgotten that he too had done that many times?). He said that he felt bad for the professional lyricists, whose job is primarily to write the lyrics for films. As an obvious fall-out to his speech, many in the stage were seen to be murmuring to themselves that the same feeling would have been felt by lyricists of Amaren's time too, when he wrote songs for his films.
