Jeeva and director V.V. Kathir are coming together for the actor's next film titled 'Thenavattu' which in typical Chennai language means 'being arrogant'. The film basically deals with the diverging complexities prevalent in the rural and urban lives.
The story is about Kottaisaamy, born and bred in a village and a straightforward honest guy with a corrupt-free mind, who comes to Chennai in search of a job. The 'mechanical' lifestyle of the Metropolis fails to have any effect on Kottaisamy, who was still the same village simpleton. His traits of behaving right and displaying his opposition to wrongful and unlawful activities remain with him.
One fine day, Kottaisamy happens to see from close quarters a murder committed by a powerful local don's men. Sensing it would be hard to fight a faceless enemy, Kottaisamy is caught in a 'Catch-22' situation: he can neither inform the police about the murder nor is he able to forget the gory murder. Seeking peace of mind, he returns to his native place but the baddies are not yet discounting him off. Fearing he might turn against them any day, they trace his address and end up at his place to silence him once for all. What happens next is the crux of the story.
In this action-packed venture, Jeeva plays Kottaisaamy and has a stunning-looking debutante in Poonam Bajwa as the heroine. Revathy, a transgender, plays an important role in the movie and probably for the first time, persons from this tribe are not being made fun of.
Thenavattu has been shot extensively in Chennai, Madurai, Rajamundhri, etc. and is getting ready for release.
