Sarath Kumar, president of Nadigar Sangam, had called journalists to talk about his home production '1977'. Seemingly in a happy mood, he replied to all the questions with a pinch of humour. When a reporter asked him if '1977' would run for three hours, Sarath replied that hd wasn't sure if the film would run for three hours but was sure it would run for over 300 days.
He said that all the films in which he had appeared in dual roles, clad in dhoti (Veshti) had been super-hits. This film, he opined, would be a hit thought he appears in most scenes in jeans. He expressed his special thanks to his co-star Namitha, who had willingly cooperated when jumping from a height. The sequence required Namitha and Sarath to jump from a height, get into a moving train and jump off it and then get into a bus.
A difficult take for any actress but Namitha, said Sarath, didn't hesitate and completed the scene in a single take. Namitha plays a lawyer in the film having more 'clients' than any other lawyer, added a smiling Sarath. When queried as to whether he would act along side Vijaykanth in a film, he shot back saying he won't hesitate to do so, provided a good script was ready.
