About the Play

The play 'Vigil' by Ladislas Foder is a gripping legal drama set in any small town in the US. The prosecutor sets the context in his opening to the jury "......though there is a vast distance in time and space, between the crime and this present day trial before people's court.. .we open the case with unabated determination as we open it every night fall of Good Friday, in the courtroom of every modern person's mind."

The playwright uses the Christian faith experience of resurrection to raise fundamental questions related to several socio-cultural constructs relevant for our times.

The members of the cast include women and men of different ages and representing a range of professionals to those making a debut. It is of significance to note that even after two decades of the first production, the play is still doing its rounds in the US.
