You are greeted by two pretty girls at the
entrance who are sporting a blue and a pink tunic which reads Mocha Mojo in
big letters. With the interiors and even the menu card designed in the 70’s
style, the whole restaurant is designed by Niels Schonfelder.
Welcome to Mocha Mojo at Indira Nagar, Adyar which has everything from
coffee’s to smoothies, one pan meals and shakes. On one side you can hear
some of the 70’s hit numbers from Pink Floyd and Bob Dylan’s albums and it
then gets time to grab some munchies. Mocha Mojo which was born in Mumbai
initially is now in Chennai, brought to you by Impresario Entertainment and
Hospitality Private Limited (IEHPL).
While the Mocha: Coffees and Conversations at Nungambakkam gives a
Moroccan and a Middle East look with velvet and bright colored fabrics, this
restaurant all together gives a different style and a look. Says Riyaaz
Amlani, CEO of IEHPL who describes Mocha Mojo as Vibrant, “You can notice
that other famous coffee shops will have all their branches following the
same color and theme. But we want each and every shop to be different.”
Mocha Mojo is definitely a one shop store for people who like coffees,
teas, pies, shakes, yogurt and smoothies, bagels and Panini’s. The number of
calories for each item is mentioned in the menu card and you can choose from
low calorie food and low sugar food, skimmed milk or Soya milk etc. Mocha
Mojo is the pioneer to introduce Molecular Gastronomy concept which is the
scientific way of cooking. They have also introduced raw foods which have no
cooked food and the item is given in a very natural way thus enabling all
the nutrients to stay on. From breakfast to lunch and dinner, you will be
indulged in some of the new varieties of food which you will never have
experienced anywhere.
With an investment of 1.5crores, Mocha Mojo can easily accommodate 120
people. From the bagels and the Panini’s, the Mushroom Melt Bagel (Veg) and
Mojo Rojo Chicken Bagel (N.Veg) and the Cambodian Chilli Spiked Cottage
Cheese Panini are the must try’s which will cost anywhere between
Rs.150-280.
You can also find some of your favorite chocolate bars like Kit-Kat,
Ferroro Rochers, and Toblerone’s in a choco shake form which will cost
around Rs.135. “Our one pan meals which are for dinner are quite famous and
it costs Rs.250-290 for Veg and Rs.310 for N.Veg,” says Samir Nanavati, who
owns the franchise in Chennai. He says that it will cost anywhere between
Rs.250-300 per head who comes here to Mocha Mojo. But on the whole, the
price seems to be quite on the higher side and it will draw the elite class
mostly. But with no second thoughts, head straightly to Mocha Mojo and you
will be transported to the 70’s in no time!
