Jyothi
Menon or Jyo
as she is
called
lovingly is
an HR in
Scope
International.
With three
books to her
credit,
Chennaionline
met her on a
bright
afternoon
and had a
tête-à-tête
on the day
her first
fictional
book- The
Angel of God
was going to
be launched.
She opens up
on her book,
previous
books, her
interests
and her
inspiration….
From HR to
authoring
books
I was
into HR for
many years
and soon I
had the idea
of writing
books and
that is how
my first
book, ‘The
power of
Human
Relations’
happened. I
did my
engineering
and my mind
was always
focused on
what I
wanted to
do. I have
won in
several
competitions
in poetry
and essay
writing
competitions
in my school
days and I
think those
small things
have made me
write a book
now and I’
am elated.
‘The power
of Human
Relations’-
the debut
book
It was my
first book
and was
published by
Pearson in
2004. That
book had 3
editions and
the
unforgettable
moment is
that
Dr.A.P.J.Abdul
Kalam
congratulated
me for that
book. This
book is a
handbook
that
revolves
around
management
and human
resources.
When this
book had 3
editions I
knew that it
became
successful
and that
paved way
for my next
two books.
Brand Wise
and Me, a
Winner
The
success of
my first
book made me
write my
next book
Brand Wise.
Talents and
relationships
in an
organization
is what this
book is all
about. Me, a
Winner is
about the
discovery
that life is
just not all
about
education
but there
are quite a
few
opportunities
that lie
beyond one’s
dreams and
hopes. All
my three
books so far
has dealt
with
non-fiction
only and I
have focused
only on an
organization
as a whole
with areas
like
leadership,
talent.
The first
fictional
book- The
Angel of God
It was
time then
that I start
writing
fictional
books too.
So I started
doing
research for
around 4-5
years and I
was writing
it for 3
years. This
is my first
book in a
fictional
style and it
revolves
around Moosa
bai, who is
portrayed as
a criminal.
This book
has vivid
pictures and
canvasses of
one’s own
life. This
book
interestingly
travels from
Calicut to
Chennai and
Arabia. This
book is
about
loyalty and
transformation.
Each of us
have the
‘Other Side’
and this
book is
about Moosa
who also has
another
side.
Managing
Work, Family
and Books
It is
very
difficult
for a woman
to manage
work and
family as it
is. And now
it is books.
Luckily, I
have got a
wonderful
husband a
daughter who
understands
me really
well. My
husband has
always been
my support
and
inspiration.
Before
marriage it
was my dad
who used to
encourage me
and now its
my husband.
Framing of
Characters
I have
traveled to
many places
in India as
my dad had
many
transfers.
So I have
met many
people and I
actually
love talking
and meeting
new people
and that was
a huge
driven force
for me
entering
into HR. All
those people
I meet
leaves
imprint in
my mind and
that I how I
frame my
characters
and the plot
of the
story. I
also put
down real
life
experiences
and
canvasses I
have seen
myself. I
also discuss
with my
husband
about the
characters
and the
plot. I go
down memory
lane and
there a few
interesting
characters
in my life
too that I
put into my
story.
Impact
created and
response
All my
three books
the response
is good and
many people
have told me
about that
they could
relate to
the
characters.
Because my
books are on
self
development
and everyone
can relate
to it
easily.
There is
always a
Jekyll and
Hyde in us
and
transformation
is important
again. I
hope
everyone
likes The
Angel of God
too.
Forthcoming
books
I ‘am
currently
working on a
book about
Leadership.
It will not
be just
another book
about
qualities
but will
surely be
very useful
to mankind.
I ‘am
planning to
write a book
about the
messages me
and my
husband give
my daughter.
Parents
always
advice their
children and
I want those
messages to
be put in as
a book.
